As the days get longer and warmer, Im spending much
more time outside: puttering in the garden, walking through
my neighborhood, and taking any excuse to enjoy the sunshine.
Its Peony season here in Oregon, and summer flowers
are just starting to bloom, leading to a world thats
bright and fragrant, truly idyllic.
Its the kind of world youd want to get married
in, and many do; outdoor weddings are exceedingly popular
in the summertime, and the locations are as diverse as the
brides. People get married on beaches, in backyard gardens,
in meadows, and even in the high desert. All of these locations
have their own inimitable beauty, but many of them pose interesting
challenges with regards to your wedding flowers.
Youll want to scope out the wedding site first, to
find out if there are flowers growing there, and if theyll
be in bloom during the wedding. If there arent, youll
still want to look around and think about what flowers will
look appropriate, not just with your dress, but with your
surroundings as well.
Flowers should echo the colors and shapes of the landscape,
and carrying the same blossoms that are growing nearby can
really tie the ceremony to the location. Remember that what
looks overwhelming indoors may seem smaller when its
outside, so feel free to experiment with bright colors and
large flowers!
