Though the seemingly-endless heat wave makes it hard to believe,
Autumn is nearly upon us. In just a few weeks, the back-to-school
sales will start and old-school fashion mavens will look disapprovingly
upon anyone brave enough to sport white shoes. White dresses,
luckily, will always be in style!
Those of you who are planning all-white weddings will be
pleased to see that Lisianthus is finally in season. Always
a favorite, this delicate flower is as romantic as a rose,
but considerably more economical. Its lovely on its
own, but its abundance of buds and blossoms also make it perfect
for mixed bouquets. Its also available in pale pink
and deep purple, perfect for adding a hint of color to table
arrangements or making striking boutonnières.
This year, though, many of you may want to add more than
a hint of color. Try taking advantage of the rich colors of
the season, like classic reds, golds, and browns, or trendy
mango and pomegranate. Orange Mini Callas have the elegant
shape of traditional white Callas, but their vibrant color
is a delightful surprise. Roses are also available in a host
of rich seasonal tones, as are Asiatic Lilies, Gladiolus,
and many other flowers.
If youre feeling adventurous, try accenting your flowers
with something more than traditional greenery. For years,
one of our most popular fall arrangements has been a surprisingly
elegant pairing of Asiatic Lilies and dried wheat. Its
festive without being kitschy, seasonal yet remarkably understated.
For a truly inexpensive solution, try decorating your tables
with fallen leaves! Youll want to gather the leaves
when theyre at their brightest, and you can press them
between the pages of a book. With a little careful decoration,
they could make lovely place cards, and guests can save them
as keepsakes.
I hope these ideas spark your creativity, and please do contact
