Holiday Weddings
Welcome to Flowerbud's Monthly Wedding Newsletter
As November draws to a close, the holiday season approaches in
a flurry of celebrations, shopping trips, and marathon home-decorating
sessions. This time of year, everyone is so busy planning parties
and presents that those of you who are also planning weddings may
be starting to feel overwhelmed. Never fear, it's always possible
to harness that holiday spirit and let it serve as inspiration
for your wedding flowers. And if you're in need of help with your
wedding preparations, why not ask for that as a Christmas gift?
After all, it's bound to be more rewarding than yet another gift
card.
Once you've got your helpers rounded up, why not ask them about
their holiday décor ideas? You can adapt those into ideas
for your wedding, giving your special day a subtle seasonal theme
and allowing your friends and family to feel included in the planning.
Even if their ideas seem crazy at first, remember that you can
remove all the jolly Santas and too-cute reindeer, leaving you
with an abundance of fragrant evergreens and carefully curled satin
ribbon.
Is Uncle Hal a whiz with Christmas lights, known 'round the neighborhood
for his amazing yearly displays? Take advantage of his enthusiasm
and experience (and the fact that tiny white lights are both cheap
and readily available this time of year) and have him adorn the
altar or gift table with a display that's twinkling and seasonal,
but still understated and lovely.
Remember that one cousin who always makes her own gifts? See if
you can enlist her to make personalized wedding favors, place cards,
or napkin rings—all in your wedding colors, of course. And
don't forget to take advantage of your mom's green thumb; all those
years growing flowers have probably taught her a thing or two about
how to arrange them.
Winter is the perfect time for a pure white wedding, but judicious
use of holiday evergreens in your flowers can also be gorgeous.
A few sprigs of cedar or fir will add texture, color, and an inimitably
wintry scent to any arrangement, and evergreen garlands can make
great pew or altar decorations. Classic holiday flowers like amaryllis
and poinsettias are available in white, and can be adorned with
glass ornaments or festive ribbons for a seasonal touch.
Please feel free to contact me directly
if you have any questions, about this newsletter or just about
wedding flowers in general. You might also want to browse our Wedding
Newsletter Archive, which is an amazing resource. If that doesn't
help, just give me a call. I'm here all day Monday – Friday,
and I'm always happy to hear from brides or grooms-to-be!
Thanks for reading, and have a great winter!
Best Wishes,
