'Tis the season
Welcome to our Monthly Wedding Newsletter!
'Tis the season! The season, that is, for parties and gifts
and shopping and all sorts of holiday excitement, the kinds
of glittering events that tend to distract from wedding planning.
That said, there are lessons to be learned from many of these
festive occasions; use them as opportunities to study successful
(or not so successful) party planning and decoration.
Around the holidays, we tend to gather in places that are
dear to us, spending more time in our parents' homes and in
places of worship. Luckily enough, those also tend to be the
places we plan our weddings. So take some time in the midst
of your holiday celebrations to consider future celebrationsthose
that will center around you and your fiancé.
If you're going to be married in a church, you'll want to
consider the entryway, as well as the altar, pulpit, and perhaps
the pews. Altar arrangements (or any arrangements that will
be part of the ceremony) should be in keeping with your theme,
echoing the colors and flowers of the bride's bouquet, but
without distracting from the ceremony itself.
Whether your guests will be seated in pews, on couches, or
on rows of folding chairs, you may want to consider decorating
at least some of their seats with flowers. You can decorate
the whole seating area, or you can use flowers to indicate
special, reserved seats, such as those that will be occupied
by your families. Though these arrangements can be as complex
as you like, be sure that they won't get in your guests' way,
or in yours when you walk down the aisle! I'd also recommend
that you avoid using candles in these arrangements a
simple string of white lights can add elegance without any
danger of fire.
Most importantly, make sure your arrangements suit the space;
it may be wise to consult with your hosts before making any
purchases, as they may have some decorating supplies on hand
that you can use. And as always, please do let me know if
you have any questions about flowers or ideas in this newsletter.
I'm always happy to answer questions or hear about success
with Flowerbud flowers, and I'm constantly on the lookout
