Daffodils

The name Daffodil comes from the Old English "affodyle," which means early arrival as their peak season is from January to March. The Daffodil is a hybrid of the Narcissus species with a trumpet corona that's as long or longer than its petals.

Our growers ship Daffodils in the "pencil" stage: straight stems with very little or no color showing on the closed bud. When Daffodils are cut their stems emit latex, also known as "Daffodil slime," which is harmful to other flowers. Cut flower food should always be added to the Daffodil vase, especially in mixed arrangements, and recutting Daffodil stems is not recommended unless water is changed and more flower food is added.

Within a day or two of delivery, the Daffodil will begin to bloom and last about seven days in the vase. The flowers do best in a well-lit area; Daffodils love the light and will curve toward it.
