Flower Care
Potted Orchids
Because they're living plants, the care required for our Potted Orchids is quite different from what's required for our cut flowers. Surprisingly, though, these distinctive flowers require care that's quite different from that required by most potted plants. Luckily, it's easier. Orchids are extremely difficult plants to kill, but you'll still want to follow these care instructions and keep your plant as healthy as possible.
Watering
Orchids don't need to be watered as frequently as other potted plants, so be careful of over-watering. Each time you water the plant, remove it from the clay pot (or basket), and water it thoroughly in the sink, fully soaking the potting mix. Wait until the surface is dry before watering again; this can take as long as eight days.
Temperature
Orchids thrive in moderate-to-warm temperatures. Ideally, the daytime temperature should be between 70 and 75 degrees Fahrenheit, while the nighttime temperature should be cooler, between 55 and 65 degrees. The plant can tolerate warmer temperatures, as long as it's in a humid environment, with plenty of air movement.
Light
Provide as much light as possible without exposing your Orchid to direct sunlight.
