Rose Lilies

Last minute gifts for women

Like red wine and chocolate, it seems that some things are just meant to be paired, and the end result is far greater than the some of the parts. The Rose Lily is the perfect example.

Rose Lilies are still a relatively new breed; discovered, developed, and perfected by De Looff Lily Innovation in the early 2000s and in production for the past 5 years.

While they are new, they are already a classic, bringing together the colors and attributes of Roses and Lilies into one incredible double bloom. Bursting with color, the Rose Lily has the overall look of a Lily, but with the stratified characteristics of the Rose.  Shipped in 10 stem bunches, these beauties are sure to please your Sweetheart for Valentine's Day.

We are proud to announce our Rose Lilies are Rainforest Alliance Certified. That means not just that they are sustainable grown, but that our farm demonstrates a commitment to socially and environmentally responsible farming.

Flower Care:

Flowerbud's signature bloom, Lilies are always a favorite around the office. They're beauties, of course, but they're also extremely long-lasting and quite hardy. Though they're generally easy to care for, there are a few things you'll want to keep in mind when arranging these elegant flowers. Our standard care instructions still apply, these are just additional things you'll need to consider.

They're slow to open.

Though most of our flowers will start to open within 2-3 days of arrival at your home, Lilies take a bit longer. They'll generally start to open after about 3-5 days, although it can take as long as a week. Keep this in mind when you're ordering flowers for a party or event; you'll want them to arrive extra early!

Their blooms are large.

We ship only premium grade Lilies, with 3-5 large buds per stems. As those buds unfurl, they turn into flowers that are not only large, but also heavy. In some cases, it may be necessary to clip a few extra inches off each stem, so that the vase can help support these weighty blooms as they open fully.

Their pollen can stain.

While the dark pollen can look beautiful, especially against pure white flowers, you want to avoid brushing against it, as it will stain. You may want to remove the pollen entirely, by gently pulling each pollen anther off the stamen with a fork or similar tool. To remove any pollen that does get on your skin or clothing, simply lift it off with adhesive tape. Do not touch the pollen; this will set the stain! Should a slight stain result, simply lay the garment out in full sun, and the stain will fade to nothing.

Bloom Stages:

Farm fresh Lilies arrive with buds closed tightly not showing color. In the following days you will begin to see color on the buds and a few will begin to open. From day 4 to 7 or 8 (depending on light and temperature) the Lilies will be in their peak of blooming beauty.
