How long before my wedding should I order the flowers?

We recommend placing your order about a month before your wedding, in order to ensure flower availability. However, orders can be placed until 11AM Pacific Time the day before they're due to be delivered.

How long before my wedding should I have the flowers delivered?

It depends on the flowers, but most flowers should be delivered 2-3 days before the wedding. Lilies should be delivered a bit earlier, as they can take 5-7 days to open. Check individual product pages for more information on specific varieties, and remember that most flowers will arrive in bud form and will need at least a couple of days to recondition and open up.

How are the flowers delivered?

Our flowers are delivered via FedEx, and while they are well-hydrated beforehand at our growers' farms, they are shipped out of water. It is important to cut the stems and get the flowers in water as soon as possible after you receive them. They will be fine out of water while in transit, but should be rehydrated promptly upon receipt.

Do I need to be home when the flowers arrive?

We do recommend that you have someone at home to receive the flowers. Flowers might be damaged if left too long in direct sunlight or extreme hot or cold temperatures. However, Flowerbud has a standing signature release waiver with FedEx, so if no one is available to accept the flowers, and the location appears to be safe, the courier will leave them at the door.

Do holidays affect flower availability?

Sometimes. While most of our wedding products will be available at holiday times, it's wise to order early, as our growers are extremely busy, and some varieties can sell out. Prices on some flowers may also change around the holidays, specifically the busy ones, like Mother's Day, Valentine's Day, and Christmas. Please call if you have any questions about holiday flower availability.

What do I need to have on hand when I receive the flowers?

When the flowers arrive, you should be armed with a few 5-gallon buckets (available at any hardware store), fresh water, flower food (we will send flower food packets and instructions with the flowers), and some sort of pruning shears. If you are receiving Roses, you may want to have a Rose stripper on hand (Roses will still have leaves and thorns that need to be removed). Be ready to store the flowers in a cool room that is out of direct sunlight.

Do I need to keep the flowers refrigerated until the wedding?

You do not need to keep the flowers refrigerated. Actually, they will need to open up a bit, and if they are kept too cold the flowers will remain closed. The best atmosphere is a room between 65-72 degrees, away from drafts and direct sunlight.

What if my flowers don't open?

While this rarely happens, buds will occasionally arrive tightly closed, and a tight schedule can make this problematic. Patience, of course, is the best tool to apply. Chances are your flowers will open with time. If time is running short, putting them in a warmer atmosphere should almost always do the trick. You might try blowing on the tops of Roses to get them to open. Using lukewarm water will help, too.

Is it hard to arrange centerpieces?

Arranging the centerpieces can be as simple or as difficult as you choose. With a single flower variety, you can arrange the flowers easily by cutting the stems at varying lengths and gently placing them in your vases. You might accent simple flower arrangements with candles, mirrors, or stones around the vases.

If I order from you, can I still have my florist arrange the flowers?

Once you receive the flowers, they are yours to do with as you please. If you plan to use a florist to arrange your bouquets, centerpieces, etc., we recommend you notify them of your plans to order from Flowerbud as early as possible.

Will you guarantee the shade of my flowers?

While we can guarantee the colors of the flowers, we cannot guarantee exact flower variety or shade. You'd be surprised at the dramatic color variation a simple change in the weather can cause, and of course, we can't control the weather. So, while you know what general color you will receive, please be aware that the color may fall within a spectrum.

What colors are available in Mini Callas?

Mini Calla Lilies are available year-round in pink, white, purple, yellow, and orange. Be aware that these colors are ranges, and may not be exactly as pictured on our site. For example, white Mini Callas inhabit a range that varies from a pure, almost green white to a creamy ivory. Pink Mini Callas may appear close to lavender, and orange can appear yellow, orange, and red, all on the same flower.

What colors are available in Tulips?

Tulips are available year-round in red, orange, yellow, pink, purple, and white. We guarantee these colors, but not shades within them. At various point of the year, other varieties are available, such as the Weber Parrot Tulips and French Tulips.

Do you offer greenery with the flowers?

At this time, we are able to offer bear grass with our Tulips and Irises, but no other greenery is available.

Do you have Baby's Breath?

None of our growers carries Baby's Breath.

Can I get a sample of your flowers?

Yes! Anything that is currently in season on our website is available to you at a 10% discount off the retail price, and can be delivered overnight if you order by 11 a.m. PST. It's a great advantage--you can see how the flowers arrive and practice with them before the big order is delivered. Bridal customers usually include this cost in their overall flower budget.
